Meridian launch
Fantastic launch of Meridian last night, July 26, in Balmain library, standing room only! Sold every book. Thanks to all those who came along to meet the author and hear excerpts from some of my stories. A wonderful experience
The event created a new literary pleasure for me, reading excerpts from my stories to a live audience, a great experience. What a wonderful way to bring characters to life. With me up front (pictured) was Sarah Goldman, fellow member of NSW Writers Centre, whose biography of Caroline Chisholm will be published next year by Harper Collins.
I think Champion of the World, the story of the young brothers Michael and Danny, was best received. This was probably because of its poignancy and the fact that I could give the boys their Yorkshire accent and idioms that are lost in silent reading. The story is one of my favourites, and of course, Michael and Danny occur throughout Meridian, as they go through life.
They keep insisting that I stay with them and occur in new stories I am writing. I am fond of the two boys and don’t want to let them go.
